                             CHOCOLATE – AN OBSESSION

Being obsessed for anything leads to an obsession. There are so many obsessions among which food obsession is the most highlighted one. Similarly, it is also said to be a behavioral addiction and is very controversial according to the people of science.
Food obsession can vary according to the taste of the people. For instance, there is food obsession mostly for rice, bread, pasta, potatoes and last but not the least ‘chocolate’. Yes, chocolate is that obsession which gives the most comforting and refreshing feel with utter pleasure.

Generally, there are various types of chocolates found in the world among which dark chocolate, white chocolate and milk chocolate are preferred by most of the chocolate lovers. Basically, chocolate comes from the seed of a tropical cocoa tree which is grown in South America.

Intellectuals of science says that chocolates can be used to treat various infections and fevers, as it contains a chemical substance ‘caffeine’ which gives an alerting refreshment.  Also, there are antioxidants which help in fighting against the heart disease. Likewise, there is another research which gives an evidence that a tooth decay can be prevented by having chocolate without sugar, as there is a bacteria-fighting found in the cocoa bean which prevents the bacterial infections. Furthermore, scientific researches have proved that women are more likely into chocolate obsession as compared to men. Chocoholics says that it is difficult to live a day without having a chocolate.

Malin Akerman says “I can’t walk by chocolate without it.”

Chocolate is the most served delight around the world on all the events and special days throughout the year. And it is one of those food on which there have been made films in the world and those films did remarkable business in every part of the world. Most hit ones were “Charlie and the chocolate Factory” and “Chocolat”, both these movies were adaption of the books which were published earlier and were very famous among chocoholics.
Thus, chocolate is an obsession which people are loved to be obsessed with, as they think that chocolate make them feel alive and refresh.
“Chocolate is the first luxury. It has so many things wrapped up in it: Deliciusness in the moment, childhood memories, and that grin-inducing feeling of getting a reward for being good.” – Mariska Hargitay.

Security Agencies Of Pakistan

What is the role of our security agencies of Pakistan which are working for Pakistan since 66 years , Now a days the condition of our security becomes a joke all over the world and the green passport becomes the shame for us (Pakistanis). Pakistan becomes the sign of terror for all foreigners. In so far the business community is coercion to leave Pakistan because of extortion and stake of their lives property and family. The economy becomes so weak due to these conditions the whole companies and textiles are moving to other countries and also due to these changes our society is suffering from lack of jobs and that is why the people choose the way of crimes.
Although our sports are totally vanished from Pakistan. No one is Acquiescent to come here and play here… Crap … our security agencies could not secure some peoples of Srilankan team so why would any other team or people will take a chance to come here..

Is their network of terrorist and criminals is become more strong than our security agencies? Do they have more weapons than us? Do they have more peoples than us?
No this is just the failure of all the security agencies.

Now lets see that why these security agencies are existing if there is no protection for any one?
Why we are paying taxes for their salaries are they working for us or they are working for the political parties?
There are intelligence agencies for security but they didn’t know ever what is going to happen especially in karachi a man who had murdered more than 100 people is released because there is no evidence.

Wali babar is the fine example for the failure of our security that he was killed on main road and there were 17 witness for that murder but all the witness were killed due to the unawareness of their security.

In my opinion if these security agencies cannot control the condition of our country so what is the benefit of our independence, we have give guaranty of or lives here. because the price of a human life is just 50000 thousand and the security is only you can get is by almighty ALLAH. Every body related from security is for sale here. Some are cheaply sales and some costly you can be release after 10 murdered if you have a heavy bank account and corruption in police, rangers is become so common here so why the hell the government is paying them salaries if they are not doing their job honestly. But no, in Pakistan our leaders are also corrupt as we have all our safeguards,A man who have all the license to save Country but they don’t know how to use it.

We can just pray that “May ALLAH show them the way of honesty”. Otherwise we will be ashamed by all over the world as we are right now

PAKISTAN YOUTH DECISION MAKING IN 2013 ELECTION
Pakistan is a young and resilient nation Ridden with terror, extremism and struggling due to faltering economy, the people are despondent about the overall situation that their country is facing.
On May 11th 2013 more people lined up at polling booths than in any of previous election. There were a number of factors that pushed people towards the ballot boxes. Pakistanis in general have started to understand the significance of voting small scale campaigns and those on the media urged the masses to get their votes registered and play their parts in ensuring the first civilian to civilian transfer of power in the country. It was for the first time in Pakistan that the right vote was viewed as a social obligation with all parties voters turn out was most this time.
Youth factor can’t be ignored and stands out for the simple reason that never before did the country’s younger population take such a keen interest in the political set up that governed it with large numbers of unemployed youth due to menaces like corruption and nepotism, the general election was seen as a possible turning point in the political sphere of Pakistan, younger generation seemed more enthusiastic in the election saga, Pakistan youth mobilized to great extent.
Youth people’s role in the 2013 election was the historic and proved the electoral strength of Pakistan’s increasingly bulging youth demographic and the triumph of democracy over violence, terrorism and intimidation. At the next election, youth will continue to be an electoral battleground and young Pakistanis must be ready for such an opportunity

“The one I belong to”
From last few years, I, as a Pakistani have been facing a thousand problems. But these problems are with other people too. But the problem which has disturbed me in every way is that now when someone meet me they start guessing and mostly people asked directly (which I believe isn’t a good way) my sect and my cast etc which has now irritated me a lot. Not only this now people are only intrested in my cast, the language I speak and the school of thought I belong to. The amazing thing is all these cast, language, creed sects and other differences was present before us also but there was not such issues which we are facing now a days. The reason which I felt behind it is that the people who wanted to divide us are preaching us in a very wrong way. They are drawing a negative sketch of everything before us. Now we have made these differences the reason of division for us although this is just because we our not considering the fact that no one can be similar. Every individual is beautiful with his uniqueness. Allah pak has made us with these differences. Allah pak has created every individual with different attributes, with different identity, different colour, different structure, different mentality. Even no human has the same finger prints at all. All these differences are just to give an individual identity to every person. Differences are to make the world beautiful. A place where all the beauties of Allah pak exsist. “Pakistan”- the land of Allah’s true blessing. Allah pak has blessed Pakistan with all the beauties. We have different cultures, customs, trends, languages, food and many other varieties. Allah pak has blessed Pakistan with every colour of His beauty in the form of these and in the form of our geograohical position too. But due to all these conflicts we have neglected our one and only identity which is the greatest blessing for us- Pakistani. Pakistan has bound us in one and only identity and makes us one. After Pakistan all the other identities have been dominated by one and only identity “Pakistani”. Above all the differences we are just Pakistani. May be we can’t understand other languages but Urdu is the language which can be somehow understand by every person in Pakistan. I think we are mature enough to understand that every individual has right to choose their own path and to spent their life by their own. No one has the right to intrupt. Not even Islam has allowed anyone to do so. There is no discrimination on the basis of cast, colour, creed or language. So why we have the issue with others. The best way to stop all this is that we should respect and accept the differences of every individual. We should be thankful to the Almighty that He has blessed us with this beautiful land and all these different colors. Yes, we have different cultures, languages, traditions and all. But above all an identity “Pakistani”. I belong only to one- Pakistan.

“Plan and Strive”

It is a simple thought for youth, especially for those who always stuck between the difference of luck and plans towards their life. Yes, luck is a true factor of life but calculation and planning for life is another thing.

A Simple fact that human brain believes in logic. It accepts only those things which make good sense and reject those which do not. Education teaches the brain to perceive new ideas and arrange them into new ones too. It is imperative for youth to indulge in those activates which help to channelize their potential. In addition to enjoying the most beautiful years of one’s life. If the youth turns towards the betterment of themselves and others than it will be priceless.
There is immense strength and potential which has to be put so that the capabilities flourish. The only way to discover your potential is to test it, and once we start working on the path we will be surprised to notice that the “Sky is the limit”.
Most famous saying “EVERY ACTION HAS A REACTION AND EVERY CHOICE BRINGS WITH IT CONSEQUENCES”, whether good or bad it depends on the choice.
The wait that any outside force will come and suddenly change everything than, I would love to remind you that everything is not so easy and very fruitful. But again here is a good news for all of us that we have been blessed with tremendous resources in the form of our intellect and ability to choose and differentiate the good from the bad. How we exercise that intellect is up to us. And believe me the success which we achieve by utilizing these resources is the real success.
Certainly everything and every deed are connected. It’s so simple that if I make an egg to fall on the floor it will certainly break. Similarly, there are some causes and their effects. If a person is happy then his family would also be happy similarly if a community is happy the nation would be happy. In other words the progress and prosperity of one will lead to the progress and prosperity of the other in a way that no one will go hungry and without shelter. ”It will be the pinnacle of human excellence”.

“Never be afraid of any Hurdle”, most of us are not blessed with miracles from our childhood; it is us who can do something for ourselves. Difficulties and adversities train us and make us strong to face upcoming challenges with ease. The planning and calculation are two major factors along with the routine and time management. Sleep is equally important. But anybody who wants to do anything has to do calculations otherwise he would be confused about the boundaries. God created the Sun and the moon to alternate between day and night. Months and years are also calculated on their basis. Similarly, when a person prefers and prioritizes one thing over another he is actually putting his time and energy and most importantly his attention towards that thing. A person cannot perform better if he is not giving proper attention to that task. If a person does one good thing and then ten bad things, one can imagine how he can then complain of bad results. It’s all about planning. Try it once than you will be on your right path”.

  • BY ALI KHAN TAREEN https://www.facebook.com/UROOJ.RIAZZ Why Not Pakistani?

  • Liking and adapting other’s culture and traditions are always a favorite hobby of many Pakistanis. Not because our culture is weak, but we have much opportunity to watch other’s mores. Pakistani culture has every thing that a nation is proud of. I can write many pages on our civilization and traditions but, this is not my topic right now. The Point I am trying to highlight is role of our government and policy makers, it seems that promoting our culture was not the goal of our higher authorities. Therefore they have given a green signal to the concern department to do what they want to do, who cares the values.
In this era, Media is considered the key factor of promoting the customs of their Nation. It also has power to build a soft Image of their People through their Dramas, Films and Music. Unfortunately our neighbor Country’s Media has succeeded in this task. It is true that the some cultural factors like Language, attire and food are similar in Both Pakistan and India. But there is major difference in religion and values. When the cable TV, dish and FM radio were not common things in Pakistan, our elders tried to find Indian door darshan and all India Radio for “Geet Mala”, it happened at least once in a week. And they became very pleased to get that. By the way, I was too young at that time. As I was growing, Cable TV and Internet also becoming common In Pakistan. After arrival of Cable TV, Pakistani People has got unlimited access to Watch Indian and western culture through their Media. Ladies started to watch Star plus, soni TV and zee TV for Dramas, male preferred zee News for current affairs and News, youngsters have got MTv, B4u and Star Movies. Similarly our nation started forgetting the classic Dramas of PTv, outstanding Programs of NTM and the heart touching Music of Pakistani Bands and Singers.
In 2001, a Military Ruler (Parwaiz Musharaf) banned the Indian Channels. He gave permission to Pakistani private Channels to operate in the country. As the Pakistani Channels came, the hope of reviving our Culture also expected at that time, but, instead of following our traditions, Media Houses started to produce Star plus Type of Soaps and Zee TV type of Programs. After sometime, they realized that our own Dramas and Programs are much better than Indian.
Including me, many people were satisfied on this move of our Media. I was Very Happy to see the progress of our Drama Industry. But who knew about “ISHQ-E-MAMNOON”. (A Turkish Soap) This Drama changed the mind of our people and encouraged Media Owners to buy Dramas from the Turkish Market, dub it in Urdu, and air in the primetime. Now-a- days, every Private Channel is having the Turkish Fever, giving air time to that type of dramas. Turkey has very advance culture, like other European countries, low cut dresses, drinking, hugging & kissing are very common thing in their Dramas. But these dramas are still being aired on our channels without any censor which is against our values. If this fever will continue, it is likely to destroy our drama Industry. But who cares, we are very fond of ignoring our own traditions. As we have done with our Music Industry. As I am a Broadcaster and I also run my own web Radio “Sabkasath”, I know that majority of listeners want to hear fresh Music. But, because of low production of local music. Unfortunately I hardly get any new Pakistani song to play on our Radio channel. Therefore willingly or unwillingly we have to air the foreign content. After seeing the Turkish Dramas on Our TV Channels, I am afraid that our Drama Industry may avoid producing new dramas and Televisions will face the same issues in the near future

A PROUD NATION

Red light red light what do you say……. I say, I say ignore me please………it is the one of the most popular unwritten rule in Pakistan. We Pakistani utterly believe that rules are meant to be broken and I myself proudly accept that yes! I enjoy crossing the red signals as mention above it say ignore me.
Being a youngster and living in Pakistan I assure you this country is an Eden for us. We can park our cars even on zebra crossings if we are returning shortly. one don’t have to waste time in parking just leave you car where ever you are comfortable and if by mistake car is taken away by a lifter you would have to pay only 200 to constable he will not return your car he will park it correctly and why not you had given him an amount for tea and samosas as his salary is not enough after all he is a government employee.
We Pakistanis are not cheaters we don’t cheat anybody. What we do is a liability we have learnt from the generations before us. No matter what profession we choose we always know how to b corrupt, we may not be able to do our best regarding our profession but we do know everything about corruption most appropriately how to play our part in corruption,
We are the only nation who is patriotic but corrupt. We love our homeland when we are living abroad when we return we suddenly realizes crap! This place stinks. We can be very proud of ourselves such Hippocrates we are. We are Edhi’s philanthropy as well as we nurture many Sikandars, if Sharmeen is the face of Pakistan what would we call Asif and Amir???????
what about our independence celebrations most of the time we enjoy loud and vulgar music from across the border not afraid to mention sheela ki jawani and halkat jawani but the ultimate JAZBA is worth seeing while dancing on these favorites but in last we don’t forget to shout PAKISTAN ZINDABAD.

My blog is an open ended question in itself hope we could get answer for our double standards! May be someday……….

Enthusiasm and Momentum of KUrians on Independence Day

Sometimes people become much curious for the events that they have only heard about and had never gone to it and from time to time their curiosity makes very miniature events much valuable to them as compare to other s.
As I have gone through with it ,since the time I was not the part of  Karachi university  I was very  keen  to attend the 14 august celebrations  held  in there, as I mentioned above that it all based on your height of curiosity about a particular event .
As being a part of KU I have attended 14 august celebrations on 7th august (18th Ramadan). I was wondering that would it be celebrated with the same enthusiasm as ever before because it was arrived in the month of Ramadan but the   enthusiasm and momentum in KURIAN’S was  more than my hope.
On 7th august every department took out rallies and gets united at outside the admin block as was decided before, by the organizers. Students were full of passion, enjoying patriotic songs and singing national anthem in chorus, girls were voluntarily painting flag or green white strips on faces and hands, chanting slogans in acute sunlight but that did not deter the spirit of the KURIAN’S
After the accumulation of every department  at the admin block ,a rally of KURIAN’S marched towards the NED under a large flag to create a history of singing a national anthem of large number of students in a group, just opposite to the university lawn.  Both the organizers and participants seemed determined to mark and register a record into Guinness World Record for Most People Singing National Anthem.
A large Pakistan flag was courteously waving by young students of NED and Karachi University, none of the participant cared about gender, race, religion or culture and a political party all we saw people was as Pakistani. Even in times of heightened threats of bombs and violence the infant, all students stood together and sang with hearts out our National Anthem.
Yes, the voices were nearly perfect chorus with over flowing patriotic spirit, giving the message to the whole world that. ”We are a nation filled with spirit of patriotism and stand as one against evil and injustice.”
The day we smell patriotism in the air. In keeping with annual tradition, youth of Karachi once again found their hidden patriotic nerve as the 66th Independence day of the nation, on 13 august 2013 .This year also, as the previous celebrations, KUrians celebrated the day with traditional Enthusiasm.
Almost every department was in a buzz with the preparations as hundreds of students celebrated the Independence day with great ardor and fervor. The celebrations took up with flag hoisting ceremonies, national anthem and patriotic songs sung by horde of people. KU hosted the Independence walk with a large number of students led by the KU vice chancellor and faculty, marched from the university post office to the pavilion in front of the central cafeteria, where the VC Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser addressed the participants.
He tried to take the attention of youth towards the technical grounds which can make our country lead in many aspects and made a hope that the country would be out of the crisis one day. Moreover, students of Karachi University organize a cake cutting ceremony, with a 500 pound cake in Art’s Lobby and the honor of cutting the cake was given to VC Dr. Qaiser.
Moreover, students hung a 200-feet long flag of Pakistan from the Administration Block to Arts Lobby. Our original tone and a different perspective was covered by all the news channels, and took a part in world News.

Although after participating in both the celebrations my curiosity come to an end but my love and dedication to my country will always be vital to all.

So close but yet so far – a tale of an overseas Pakistani

A bigger portion of my life has been spent abroad. Being born and brought up away from where you actually belong creates a lot of hassle for one. It may sound as a cliché but I have been one of those Pakistani’s who have spent her life protecting the honor of her country, having to have dealt with a lot of queries arising from the situations occurring back home.
Yes, I have been called a terrorist a ‘zillion’ times, if not in jeopardy then mostly out of humor. It had become an inside joke perhaps where my mates coming from other countries referred to me as a terrorist and I giggled and replied to them saying ‘ Yes you better stay away from me, I have got a bomb attached!’.
I guess I had no other way out, than involving myself in the humor and being laughed at. You know as they say,it is better than having to throw an angry face at almost everyone commenting.
The Indo-Pak cricket matches were a war in itself, which in my case were more of a handicap match than anything else, a dozen Indians against a handful of Pakistanis. Surprisingly as I grew up, I realized that not only Indo-Pak matches but in fact, in any match with green flag being raised on one side, was a call for a tussle.
If I wore western people would ask me out of astonishment as to how I got permission to do so and if I wore eastern people asked out of sympathy how I had no freedom. Very little understood the fact, that how we dress is an individual’s choice and has nothing, absolutely NOTHING to do with one’s country! (By this time, having to have recalled everything, I am truly frustrated. Sigh!)
Then it was time where I had to go back home and complete my higher education. For people wondering why I chose to do so, it was solely my father’s decision, where he thought his children needed to connect with their home and understand the patriotism he felt towards Pakistan.
And I thought it was time to be honored for all what I had faced. I felt like a soldier coming from a battlefield, waiting to be praised and awarded.
I joined The University of Karachi to pursue my bachelors in the field of Mass Communication, the university considered to be the best at it. Although I happen to disagree with that but then that’s a whole different issue to talk on.
Moving on, I went about introducing myself and of course my introduction included where I came from. For about a month or so all I had been saying was ‘Hi, I am Nisma Chauhan and I am from Muscat, Oman.’ And for God’s sake people it is Muscat not the Muskan chowrangi outside KU!
Anyway, I thought it would take me a moderate time to adjust BUT to my amazement it took me more than that.
When in start, everyone happened to discuss about the situation in Pakistan and everyone’s opinions were acknowledged. However, many thought my suggestion or outlook of the picture wasn’t important or valid since I had not experienced it the way they did. I wasn’t physically present in the country to have a right to comment. Really???
After the struggle and the constant arguments I had to face in order to protect Pakistan’s dignity, all I was left with ‘Oh! Aap toh yahan par thi hi nahi, aap kaise bol sakti hai.’
Remember how I mentioned above that I felt like a soldier, by this time it had all gone down the drain.I began to doubt my father’s decision; I began to doubt my own decision of having spent time answering people asking about the situation in Pakistan.
How am I supposed to feel connected and patriotic towards a country whose people don’t consider me one of them?

That is one question I haven’t still been able to figure out but in my defense, I don’t think I would ever stop building a positive image of Pakistan, but would I consider myself to be a patriotic? I feel, only time could tell.

                       Mysterious Friend

After being a witness of many interesting stories I've decided to start this series of blog where I'll be posting on an accomplishment of university life.
University life was always a charm to me due to no precincts and whole new consignment of classmates and friends but according to my presumption not everyone you meet is your friend and I comprehend that in the couple of starting days of university when there were controversies started by our own friends and class fellows which resulted in quandaries for everyone.
On the 1st day of university I congregated a girl; I must say she was very auspicious because she met almost everyone on their 1st day. I can't tip out her name due to some privacy matters but also to maintain the suspense element.
Well keeping the story in succession, she was very important to me as she introduced me to her bunch of friends. I was new in university so seeing that I was alone having no one to talk to. She supported me with the no-friend-sitting-alone think and introduced me to her group. Her group was incredible as they were great at sorting out problems and helping each other, later we went to take classes together.
The days passed in haste and our companionship grew stronger. Then the day came when our seniors threw welcome party for us, some wanted to set out and enjoy their life by being energetic and others didn't show up due to their private issues but my group decided to go, that girl also suggest me to came with her group and then I approved with the final decision. It was awe-inspiring being there when students were enjoying by taking pictures and meeting people from their university groups, this later turned into friendship she made the first move by introducing me with other class fellows also.
Seniors arranged a concert by inviting bands... first band was marvelous and everyone enjoyed their performance while the next band was like a mother trying to make her baby fall asleep, with a lot of hooting and shouting we enjoyed the singing performances.
I won't forget this day as it was an astounding gesture of our seniors for their juniors to interrelate with new people and to know them better. And the most imperative thing was that I have met up such a fastidious girl who helped me out in every step and took me to this welcome party with her.
So there are definitely many reminiscences which are unforgettable for everyone as I can’t forget how that girl help me without any mean, direct me and still she is with me and I can’t forget the welcome party , I made many friends there and get closer to all.

By Urooj Riaz

                                                    BEING PATRIOTIC

An individual who zealously loves, support and defends his country against the detractors is known as a true patriot. Millions of patriots are there, who fought immeasurably for their homeland. Nevertheless, the soul of patriotism lies in the believe of the patriot. All the individualistic instances let the patriots keep their soul of patriotism alive. Moreover, thousands of war events which occurred in the history are also a wide source for all the super patriots, to get immensely be in touch with the soul of patriotism.
However, being a Pakistani, I would shed some light on the points which a patriot in Pakistan must learn! As being patriotic, being aware of all the patriotic duties and having reverence for your homeland as a state of patriots, are the key points which a Pakistani should grasp.
”Patriots always talk of dying for their country but never of killing for their country” – Bertrand Russel
So, for being a patriot a person must be a human first! Helping needy people, having a heart for all those who are poor but hardworking and furthermore “being a Pakistani”. Being Pakistani is the ultimate point and prove of being a true patriot, such as adoring the homeland and equally adoring the Pakistanis!
Above all, the heart of a Pakistani should bleed green emphatically for Pakistan.
On the other hand, knowing all the patriotic duties is also a key part of the patriot’s life. However, it is much better to be a responsible citizen beside being a patriot. It is like being a well responsible national, practicing all the duties to the best of the ability.
On the contrary, Pakistan is a state of patriots, and the nationals of pakistan are a prove of par excellence in the whole world. The Youth of Pakistan is enthusiastic to do any thing for the well being of the country. Similarly, there are so many heroes who have proved through their positive thoughts and approaches, and have become the pride of our nation. As in the history, our great heroes like Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal, Liaquat Ali Khan, Fatima Jinnah, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Dr. Abdul Qadir Khan and many more, have done so much for Pakistan. Following their footsteps there are so many youngsters like Arfa Karim, Ali Moeen Nawazish, and the young activist Malala Yousaf Zai, who have left their mark on the world charts, by doing some great work for the country.
I would like to share a quote which inspired me to write this article,
“I have always regarded myself, in the first place, as an African Patriot” – Nelson Mandela.
Consequently, a Pakistani-patriot should have regard for Pakistan as this can lead him to a higher rank all around the world. And, he can let the world know that the best example of a patriot is a “PAKISTANI” !
