Wearing branded outfits and roaming around without “dupatta”
doesn't show that you are modern ….. We are moving on an off beam track with an
erroneous perspective. We are discouraging our norms, values and culture
because we think that practicing our values makes us backward.
I know I know! Norms, values and
culture sounds really typical as from our childhood we were being taught that
wearing shalwar kameez n dupata is in our culture, respecting elders and loving
children are our values.
But now, norms, values and culture has given a communal name
from which we all are aware of and people are ready to pay any cost and are sacrificing
everything for their so called LIFESTYLE.
People prefer western
lifestyle because they assume that without adopting their culture we can’t
survive in this world. THAT’S NOT RIGHT! You can’t adopt others style in your
life and posed to others that “THIS IS MY
STYLE”
DUH AH! CAN AN
ADOPTED CHILD BE YOUR REAL SON OR DAUGHTER??
We have become much
addicted of following others and we are not only adopting western lifestyle but
also Indian. I remember there was a time when the shopkeepers use to sell goods
with Bollywood references. I can’t forget that pathetic dialogue of shopkeepers
“KUMKUM KE JHUMKE LAYLO TULSI KI BINDIYA
LAYLO” AHHH!!!! Really no words for
this…
If you discourage your
own lifestyle and prefers others on that ,than how would you able to make a
definite place in this world. You can only survive by your distinguish place
not by your western adaptation. Your thinking capability makes you modern not
your NIKI shoes GUCCI suits ROLEX watches APPLE laptops palmtops and bla bla!!
YES modernity means
broad-mindedness but please! Giving your children a free hand, shaking hands
with opposite gender and moving all around in any western outfit doesn't meant
that you are BROADMINDED. Broad mind doesn’t means to be vulgar, one should
have to be decent with sured dignity and parents should encourages
broad-mindedness in their children in fair manners.
Are our norms and values so difficult to follow, are we
modern or cheaters?
Who feel proud to adopt vulgar westernity……….

The concept of modernization sometimes leads a man to the vulgarity. Modernity to some extent is good but when we apply modernization in every sphere of life specially in the complex things i.e religion, culture, relationships etc it may be resulted in social problems or we can say in the disorganization of the individual, group or society.

well written najia... the meaning of word "modern" is "jadeed" not vulgarity... we can still be modern by following our own culture and trying different things... but being in our limits.
The great idea which is very important for today's youth, but it can also be good to have it on....

I think your perspective of modernity and vulgarity are too limited and referring it to " DUH AH! CAN AN ADOPTED CHILD BE YOUR REAL SON OR DAUGHTER??" is way too harsh. Better look up the definitions. Any way despite all that you have written it well :)
